• OHene Djan Sports Stadium First opened in 1956. Originally the Accra Sports stadium, renamed after Ohene Djan, the first Director of Sports in Independent Ghana, in 2004. Ohene Djan Stadium is a multi-use, 40,000 all-seater stadium in Accra, Ghana. Moslty used for Football matches; Track and Field and music concerts in that order.

• The Accra Sports Stadium disaster occurred at the Accra Sports Stadium, Accra, Ghana on May 9, 2001. It was a disaster that took the lives of 127 people.
The Accra disaster is the worst stadium disaster to have taken place in Africa. It occurred during a match between Ghana’s two most successful football teams, Accra Hearts of Oak Sporting Club and Asante Kotoko
