Sad News! Miriam Makeba dies after collapsing on stage

Beloved Miriam Makeba; who I was introduced to by my mother when I was probably a toddler has passed away today after unexpectedly collapsing on a performance stage near Napoli, Italy Sunday night; November 9th. She was 76. She will be dearly missed.

The ashes of Mama Afrika, who passed away after a performance in Italy last week, are to be scattered at the Cape Point at midday today (November 19th).

I am pleased to say that this GIANT of Africa is someone who I have honoured during her lifetime [as opposed to after death]
by REGULARLY playing her music on my radio programme. I can still see myself as an 8 or 9 year old boy dancing to Pata Pata. Rest in Peace, Mama Africa!
