Mali Vs. Benin

It was Mali 1 - Benin 0
Goal by: Frederíc Kanouté 48′ minute Penalty goal.
Interestingly enough. The price of one ticket allowed you to witness two matches. I saw busloads of Beninois with bright yellow smocks to support Les Ecureuils. It was hard to pick out the Malien fans. As a matter of fact; Mali and Benin share the same Pan-African flag colors of red, gold and green. The swaths of colors are just arranged differently.
The commencement of the game was interrupted by a blackout. This happened right after the Ghanaian Naval band fiished the national anthemsof both teams. Since this was the second match of the day; the sun had already disappeared below the horizon. Watching the game and now concluding; I say that Benin dominated the action of the game. It is fair to say that the Malian defense persevered. No goal was conceded to The Squirrels. Frederíc Kanouté was a star as he organized the Malian team for the attack and defense. Many of the Nigerian fans cleared out of the stadium after that stinging loss to the Ivoirians. I actually enjoyed the action of this game better than the one hyped up earlier. Great game. Mali looks promising! Off to the hotel for some sleep; then off to Kumasi by road tomorrow!
